竹枪、木刀对他来说，不能真正抗敌，悟空决定去找些兵器。

“For normal monkeys our swords and spears were fine,” thought Wukong. “But I am powerful. I need a much heavier weapon.”

这时，老猴说：“东海龙宫有很多宝贝，您可以去找龙王要一件称心的兵器。”

“A dragon king lives at the bottom of the Eastern Sea,” he said. “Maybe he has a weapon you can use.”

悟空听了很高兴，他跳到桥头，使一个避水法，分开水路，直入东海。

“That’s a good idea,” as he said a quick spell he could breathe underwater. Then he dived into the stream. He swam to the ocean and soon he arrived at a large palace.

进了龙宫，悟空说明来意。

Wukong walked in the palace. “I need a heavy weapon because I am strong as a god. I want one of yours.” Wukong said.

龙王不好推辞，便叫人取出一把大刀奉上，悟空不要。

The Dragon King looked at a turtle soldier and gave an order. Soon the soldier came back, slowly dragging a huge sword. “This sword is too light,” said Wukong. “Find me a better one.”

龙王叫两个大力士抬出一柄方天画戟，有七千二百斤重。悟空接过后使了一阵，还是嫌轻了。

A few minutes later, several turtles and octopuses dragged an enormous spear into the room. Wukong lifted the spear and began stabbing at the air. He shook his head. “This spear is too light.”

龙王心中害怕，说宫中只有此物最重，再没什么兵器了。

“We don’t have anything else,” said the dragon king. “That’s the heaviest weapon we have.”

悟空不信，声称没有称手的兵器绝不离开。

Wukong stomped his foot. “I’m not leaving until I get what I want!”

正在这时，龙婆小声对龙王说：“大王，大禹治水时留下一根定海神针，也没什么用，何不送他，打发他走？”

The queen whispered to the dragon king. “What about the magical iron bar in the treasury? I’m sure that’s heavy enough.”

龙王领着悟空来到宝库，只见金光万道，龙王说：“那放光的便是。”

The group went to the treasury. An enormous iron pillar stood in the center of the room. Beams of golden light shone from it.

悟空上前一看，原来是根斗来粗的铁柱子，有二丈余长。

Wukong went closer and looked up at the large piece of iron.
