悟空带着观音菩萨回到了鹰愁涧

Wukong and Guanyin flew over the ocean and back to the wide river.

菩萨叫出白龙

From the sky Guanyin called, “Dragon! Come out of river at once. The Tang Monk is here!”

白龙从水中腾起，向着观音二人俯首行礼

The dragon rose from the river and bowed.

白龙为他过失表示歉意。不知唐僧到来，误食了白马

“Bodhissattva,” he said, “I’m sorry. I didn’t realize the monk had arrived.”

菩萨命白龙化作白马，驮唐僧西天取经

“You will carry the Tang Monk to the Western Paradise.” Sparkling light surrounded the dragon.

菩萨用杨柳枝蘸了玉净瓶中的甘露，洒向白龙。只见那白龙立刻变成了一匹精神抖擞的白马

When the light faded, a horse stood where the dragon had been.

观音走后，悟空把马牵到了唐僧面前

After Guanyin left, Wukong led the horse to the Tang Monk.

悟空向唐僧诉说了观音点化白龙化作白马的事情

“Guanyin was here. She turned the dragon into a horse,” said Wukong. “He is supposed to come with us.”

唐僧听了，连忙向空中跪拜磕头

The Tang Monk fell to his knees and bowed.

唐僧一行收拾行李，继续乘船西行

The Tang Monk stepped onto the boat, and Wukong followed with the horse. The monk and monkey continued their journey over hills and across plains.

唐僧师徒又走了一段时间，来到一座寺庙前

They walked some more until they reached a Buddhist monastery.

师徒几人便决定在这寺庙落脚休息一晚。院主盛情款待了唐僧师徒

Later that evening the Tang Monk and Wukong ate a meal with the priests.

席间，唐僧说起了西行之初，菩萨赠予的锦斓袈裟

“This was an honor to get the True Scriptures.” said the Tang Monk. “The bodhisattva said that only a true believer could make the journey. I tried on a robe, and she saw that I was a true believer.”

解开包袱，只见袈裟霞光灿灿

He reached into his bag and pulled out the robe. The priest’s eyes sparkled.

院主十分惊讶，便说想借阅一晚

The priest admired it for a moment. “May I borrow it, just for tonight?”

这天深夜，主持在屋里观赏袈裟，爱不释手

Late that night the priest was awake, gazing at the robe.

起了贪心，便想据为己有

“I can’t return this robe. I must have it!” said the priest.
