悟空举起金箍棒，正准备挥向强盗。

Wukong put up his hand. “I’ll deal with these robbers, Master.” Wukong raised the iron bar, ready to strike.

唐僧厉声喝止了悟空，说：“出家人慈悲为怀，切勿伤人性命。”

“Stop, Wukong!” cried the Tang Monk. “Don’t hurt them!” He continued. “A Buddhist monk never hurts people.”

唐僧埋怨悟空凶残，有违佛家宗旨。

The Tang Monk shook his head. “You are cruel and violent, Wukong.”

悟空一气之下，驾起筋斗云走了。

Wukong was angry. “I just saved your life!” he cried. “I don’t have to accept this treatment. I’m leaving!” Wukong leaped into the air and was gone.

唐僧只好牵了马，独自西行。

The Tang Monk sighed and then continued his journey.

不多远，迎面预见一个老婆婆。

Later that day he saw an old woman.

老婆婆从口袋中拿出一个金头箍，又教他念“紧箍咒”。

She pulled a metal headband out of her bag. “Whenever he misbehaves, recite the tight headband spell.” The old woman whispered a magical spell to the Tang Monk.

老婆婆本是观音菩萨所变，完成了任务便化作金光不见了。

There was a flash of bright light, and the woman rose into the air.
