悟空摸着铁棒，心想：太粗了，再短些就好了。

Wukong put his hand on the iron pillar. He thought, "This piece of iron really is magical. I bet it will do whatever I want it to do." Wukong gave it an order. "Smaller!"

话音刚落，那铁棍当真就短了几尺，细了一圈。

The pillar shrank! Soon it was just a little taller than Wukong.

悟空掂了掂，又让它变得更小了些。

Wukong made the bar even smaller.

悟空将金箍棒变作绣花针大小，收在耳朵里便转身离去。

Soon it was no bigger than a pin. He placed it inside his ear and left the palace.

龙王十分生气，声称要到玉帝那里告状。

The dragon king clenched his fists and said, "I am going to report him to the Jade Emperor!"

回到水帘洞，悟空把龙宫取宝的事炫耀了一番，众猴们对新兵器的威力表示惊叹。

Back home, the others were amazed by Wukong’s new weapon.

为了庆祝此事，众猴呼朋唤友，宴请众妖直至深夜。

The monkeys and apes cheered. They held a big feast that lasted until late at night.

深夜，悟空刚刚睡下，两个勾魂使者手握勾魂索，将悟空的魂魄勾走，带到地府。

Wukong went to bed happy. But as he fell asleep, two spirits grabbed him. They walked toward a dark and creepy city. A sign on the entrance gate said "Land of Darkness."

悟空大怒，将地府大闹一番。

Wukong stomped into the Land of Darkness. As he went, he swung his iron bar back and forth. Demons and ghosts fled.

还用毛笔在生死簿上把猴类的名子全部勾掉。

Finally, Wukong drew a line through his name in the Directory. Next, Wukong found the names of all the other monkeys and apes. He crossed out their names too.
